Geography web sites

There are some fantastic geography resources on the web.  Here are two of my favorites to look at for fun:
 
Google Earth:  (this is a program you download to view satellite images for almost anywhere in the world, BUT to use it you need a broadband connection).  David can count the number of air conditioners on top of his factory in Columbia.  The Savannah River site doesn’t have the same degree of resolution!    http://earth.google.com/ 
 
The Confluence Project:  quoting their web page —  "The goal of the project is to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree intersections in the world, and to take pictures at each location. The pictures and stories will then be posted here."  I think the pictures are pretty neat.  Click on the map anywhere in the world to see the picture at that confluence!  Too bad, the only ones left that need pictures are in extremely remote and difficult areas to travel!      http://www-dev.confluence.org/index.php
